Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also sings. She's the smallest woman and was the first person to receive a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, the Indian young sitar singer. She is a student as well as sister of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her early years of her life moving between London as well as New Delhi. Her debut concert was at New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she earned her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. For a long time she has been performing regularly with her father. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. Since she's performed at all the major stages in the world, her career on stage has been extensive. The career of Anoushka doesn't only comprise musical performances. She released Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in the year 2002. This is a picture biographical work that is a tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka continues to grow on her path and there will be many more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka is a native of England however, she spent the majority of her childhood in between London in the UK and Delhi. She then moved to California and went to high school there. At the age of nine, she began studying music under her father. She made her debut with the sitar 4 years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. The father of Anoushka travelled the world with her and she gained many experience. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. Her talent and musicality was acknowledged by the British parliament as the best of the best in Asian Arts.
